Men's Basketball drops one-point game at Regis

The Wildcats ended their five game winning streak with a hard fought game at Regis University on Wednesday night. The 'Cats held close the host Rangers through the first half allowing Regis just single digit leads. Johnson & Wales tied the game at 32 with 3:18 left to pla in the half off a layup by Nick Maly. JWU would gain the lead with missed jumpers by Regis and headed into the break up 37-35.

In the second half, the Wildcats quickly found themselves in foul trouble as the 'Cats were committing many mental errors in the first few minutes. JWU's Cedric Ennis found himself fouling out with 11:45 still on the clock. The Rangers battled for possession down the stretch and the game quickly became a shooting contest between the two sides.

Johnson & Wales found themselves down three points with just 20 seconds to play. A turnover by Jazz Williams allowed Regis to drive to the basket, but the Rangers's Chris Johansen on his way up and made one of two to extend the lead to four. Jake Campbell hit the basket from beyond the arc to bring the game to 80-81 in favor of Regis. Johnson & Wales couldn't get their hands on the ball as the buzzer went off.

Campbell had 18 points for the Wildcats while Maly added another 17. Eric Gardzina had game high 10 rebounds to go along with his 12 points.

JWU will travel to Sioux Falls, SD to take on the Cougars at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
