Grogan becomes program's all-time coaching wins leader

DENVER — Seventh-year head coach Quintin Grogan became the all-time wins leader in Johnson & Wales University men's basketball history with the Wildcats' 96-72 win over Oglala Lakota College on Saturday at the Wildcat Center.

Grogan now has 65 wins leading the Wildcats, passing his predecessor, Jeff Culver, who is in his eighth season at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

"I'd like to thank a number of people who have made a huge impact throughout my seven seasons here at JWU — Sandee Mott, Robin Krakowsky, Jill McCartney, Mike Gallegos, coach Dalton Bornholdt, and countless other staff members, administrators, coaches, players and alumni," Coach Grogan said. "I also want to thank Coach Jeff Culver for what he did with this program before me. He was the one who set the standard and who elevated the program to where it is now. Throughout his tenure here, he played a number of Division I, Division II and NAIA scholarship teams. There's no telling what his record could've been if the team would've been at the Division III level during his time at Johnson & Wales."

Grogan also owns the best single-season coaching win percentage in team history when he led the Wildcats to a 17-8 mark a season ago. The Los Angeles native has had the pleasure of coaching some of the most accomplished Wildcats in team history, including the top three career scoring leaders in Andrew Romero III (2015-19), Jontrell Herman (2015-19) and Andrew Bonner (2013-17).
