DENVER - Johnson & Wales University freshman guard Andray Thomas Jr. has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for week 5.
Thomas had 23 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and four assists to lead the Wildcats to their first win of the season Saturday over Oglala Lakota College. Thomas compiled all his production in just 33 minutes off the bench.
The first-year player from DSST: Stapleton High School leads the conference in scoring at 21.0 points per game and rebounding at 9.7 rebounds per game. He ranks in the top 15 in every individual statistical category except for offensive rebounding, ranking second in steals (2.6), fourth in assists (3.4) and sixth in field goal percentage (.521).
Thomas and the Wildcats open conference play Sunday against Southwestern (noon, Wildcat Center).
