DENVER - A second-half surge wasn't enough for the Johnson & Wales University men's basketball team in an 85-73 loss to Trinity University on Friday night at the Wildcat Center.
Freshman Andray Thomas Jr. scored a game-high 14 points in 26-plus minutes off the bench to lead JWU Denver. Thomas went 8-for-12 from the floor and made all seven free throw attempts.
Freshman Kade Glover scored a career-high 15 points, making 5-of-7 from behind the 3-point arc. Jaerron Hunter filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Kaleb Atherley contributed six points and six boards.
A.J. Clark led the Tigers with 15 points. Trinity led 45-31 at halftime and finished with a 16-6 edge in second-chance points as the visitors had a 44-33 advantage on the glass.
JWU returns the Wildcat Center on Saturday to host Schreiner University at 4 p.m.
