CRETE, NE - For the first time in program history, the Johnson & Wales University men's track & field team had a Wildcat compete in the long jump as freshman Gaven Case placed 26th in the event with a mark of 5.31 meters at Saturday's Scott Nisely Memorial hosted by Doane University.
Case also ran both sprints, finishing 19th in the 200 (24.57) and 32nd in the 60 (7.54).
Senior John Jacob added two more school records to his credit with his time of 1:30.37 in the 600-meter run and a time of 2:46.83 in the 1K, placing in the top 22 in both events.
Freshman Oticio Herrera had the highest individual finish by JWU at the meet with his fourth-place run in the 5K in 16:26.72. Junior Emad Bashir-Mohammed wasn't far behind, placing fifth in the 5K with a time of 16:33.18.
Senior Bryce Moore collected a pair of top 30 finishes, placing 27th in the 600 (1:31.78) and 25th 1000 (3:00.17).
Freshman Albara Mutleq placed in the top 30 in the 60 (7.49), 200 (24.89) and 400 (58.11) while senior Evan Salazar was 20th in the 800 (2:43.86) and 35th in the mile (5:55.79).
