Men's track wraps up indoor season at Air Force

AIR FORCE ACADEMY - The Johnson & Wales University men's track and field team wrapped up the 2020 indoor season Friday at the Air Force Collegiate Open at Cadet Field House. 

Freshman Gaven Case broke his own school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.02 meters, as his sixth place finish in the event was the best for the Wildcats of the meet. Case also ran the 60-meter dash in 7.52 seconds, placing 14th, and finished 12th in the 200 in 24.32.

JWU also got a top-10 finish by Albara Mutleq with his seventh-place finish in the 400 with a time of 55.05. 

Senior John Jacob finished 11th in the 5K in 16:42.72 and 12th in the 1 mile with a time of 4:34.07. The Wildcats had four runners compete in the 5K alongside Jacob as junior Emad Bashir-Mohammed was 12th (16:42.72), senior Bryce Moore was 14th (17:14.69) and freshman Oticio Herrera 15th (17:36.96).

Also in the 1 mile, freshman Keenan Rimbert placed 34th in 5:11.15 and Evan Salazar 38th in 6:11.24.

JWU begins the outdoor season on Saturday, March 21 at the University of Colorado's Jerry Quiller Classic.
