NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team couldn't contain a high-powered North Central offense on Saturday, falling 19-2 to the host Cardinals at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Christiana Truver and Jessica Deetjen scored four times each to lead North Central College to a 12-0 halftime lead as the Cardinals (6-1) out-shot the Wildcats (1-7) 28-2 in the first frame.
Senior Katie Smith (Livermore, CA) got JWU on the board with an unassisted goal at the 17:21 mark of the second half. Freshman Madisyn Tulenchik (Victoria, MN) scored five minutes later to conclude the offense for the Wildcats.
Freshman Brigid McCollam (New Fairfield, CT) made 14 of her 19 saves in the first half for coach Mallory Bahr, who was facing her alma mater. Junior Ashley Guerrero (Downey, CA) and freshman Julianna Lozada (Poway, CA) had four draw controls each for JWU.
McCollam made six saves in the first eight minutes of the first half to keep the Wildcats within reach, down 2-0 before NCC ripped off six consecutive goals over the next 10 minutes to take control of the contest.
The Wildcats wrap up their two-game road trip Sunday at Elmhurst.
