Wildcats fall at Schreiner

The Wildcats hit the road for a Friday afternoon contest at Schreiner University.

The host Mountaineers put Katelyn Peters (Brighton, Colo.) on her game early with a pair of attempts in the sixth and ninth minutes that she made the stop on. An attempt by Molly Sharples (Henderson, Nev.) in the 14th minute went wide. Schreiner went up 1-0 in the 18th minute with a goal from Cailee Morgan. Sharples had a shot on goal in the 19th minute that was saved by SU's Jordin Toso. Peters had three more saves of the next three minutes as the Mountaineers continued to push the Wildcat's defense.

Natasha Martin (Las Vegas, Nev.) found the equalizer in the 29th minute to tie the match 1-1. Peters had another save after the restart to keep the game tied. Each side had an attempt go wide of frame late in the period as the game went into the break tied 1-1.

Kayla Mullen put the Mountaineers up 2-1 in the 50th minute, finishing off a pass from Dani Loeblein. Schreiner had two more goals late in the contest to grab the 4-1 victory.

MartinSharples and Kassidy McKevitt (Fort Collins, Colo.) each had a shot on goal for the Wildcats and Peters finished with seven saves. Loeblein had four shots on goal for the Mountaineers and Toso had two saves.

Johnson & Wales (4-3-0, 3-2-0 SCAC) will head to #22 Trinity University on Sunday.
