DENVER - Natasha Martin, a senior on the Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team, was named to the Scholar All-West Region team by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) after wrapping up her stellar career with the Wildcats.
A second-team All-SCAC selection, Martin led JWU Denver with eight goals and 19 points this season, ranking fifth in the conference in both categories.
Martin, who has a 3.53 GPA and is majoring in criminal justice, is the program's all-time leader in goals (33) anf points (80) and is the first All-Scholar honoree in program history since becoming an NCAA Division III provisional member.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student athletes must meet the following criteria:
- 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school
Martin was one of four SCAC student-athletes to receive Scholar All-Region/All-America honors along with Trinity's Kristen Canepa and Paige Wallace and Southwestern's Mary Cardone and Romie Reyna.
