Volleyball starts Prairie Wolf Invite with loss to Wisconsin-Platteville

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team took a break from SCAC conference play Friday with the start of the Prairie Wolf Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan. 

The Wildcats began the weekend with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-18) loss to Wisconsin-Platteville. Senior Brooke Paxton had her fourth straight double-digit kill performance and eighth of the season to lead with Wildcats (2-11) with 10 kills. Sophomore Jacquelyn Ortiz totaled 15 assists and 10 digs while freshman Hope Hines added five kills and 16 digs for JWU Denver. 

Sophomore Kaitlin Jones tallied 16 digs for a Wildcat squad that was playing its first match of the season away from the Wildcat Center. 

JWU continues the P-Wolf Invite with a pair of matches Saturday, facing Central (Iowa) at 8 a.m. followed by host Nebraska Wesleyan at noon.
