LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Johnson & Wales University volleyball team continued the Prairie Wolf Invitational with a 3-0 loss to Central (Iowa) on Saturday morning at Snyder Arena.
Senior Brooke Paxton matched a season high with 14 kills to lead JWU Denver (2-12). The Wildcats were unable to take a set but were plenty competitive as each set was within three points (25-22, 25-22, 25-23).
Sophomore Kaitlin Jones and freshmen Sierra Martin and Hope Hines each had a pair of aces for the Wildcats, who served up eight aces as a team. Hines added 18 digs and five kills while sophomore Jacquelyn Ortiz (11) and senior Ashlee Ruehs (14) combined for 25 assists.
The Wildcats continued the tournament Saturday at noon against host Nebraska Wesleyan.
